ABA therapy delivered in your home or school, with a BCBA accountable for results.

Let’s Talk

If you suspect your child may have autism, you don't have time to wait six months for an appointment. Alight Behavioral provides fast, accurate autism diagnostic evaluations for children in North Carolina, so families can stop wondering and start helping. Our licensed clinicians use the same gold-standard tools used in academic medical centers — without the months-long backlog. For families in Minnesota and Virginia, we leverage close relationships with diagnosticians to get your child evaluated faster.

Get answers fast

We schedule most evaluations within weeks, not months. The evaluation itself is conducted in a setting designed to put your child at ease — for many families, that means a virtual evaluation from the comfort of your home.
Familiar surroundings reduce anxiety, which means we see your child’s real behavior, which means a more accurate result.
Here’s what makes our evaluations different:

Short wait times.

Most families are scheduled within 2–3 weeks of contacting us.

At-home convenience.

No long drives, no unfamiliar clinic waiting rooms, no parking garages. We come to your child where they’re already comfortable.

Experienced clinicians.

Our evaluators have years of experience diagnosing autism in young children and know how to distinguish autism from look-alike conditions.

Clear, usable reports.

You’ll receive a detailed written report with a diagnosis (if applicable) and concrete next-step recommendations — not jargon you have to translate.

Medicaid and most insurance accepted.

We accept Medicaid and most major commercial plans.

What the evaluation covers

Our evaluations are comprehensive. We look at communication, social interaction, play, repetitive behaviors, sensory processing, and adaptive skills. We use standardized assessment instruments along with structured observation and a thorough developmental history from you, the parent — because you know your child better than anyone.
If your child meets criteria for autism spectrum disorder, we’ll explain what that means in plain language, and what services are most likely to help. If your child doesn’t meet criteria, we’ll tell you that too — and point you toward whatever support does make sense.

01

Easy scheduling.

Reach out and we’ll find a time that works for your family — usually within a week or two.

02

The evaluation.

Our clinician spends time with your child using developmentally appropriate, evidence-based tools. Parent input is part of the process; we want to know what you see at home.

03

Clear results and recommendations.

You receive a written report that lays out findings and specific next steps — including whether ABA therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, or other supports are recommended.

Why early diagnosis matters

Research is clear: the earlier a child receives a diagnosis and starts targeted support, the better their long-term outcomes. The brain’s plasticity in early childhood means therapies — including ABA — produce faster, larger gains when started young. An accurate diagnosis is the key that unlocks insurance coverage for therapy, school-based services, and community supports.
If your child has been on a waitlist for months, or if a pediatrician has said “let’s wait and see” but your gut says otherwise, please reach out. You don’t need a pediatrician’s referral to schedule with us in most cases.
