Alight Behavioral brings in-home ABA therapy to families throughout Virginia – from Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Chesapeake on the coast, to Richmond and the counties around it, to Arlington, Alexandria and the Northern Virginia suburbs, and west to Roanoke, Staunton and Waynesboro.

Wherever you are, therapy happens in the comfort of your own home, with a Behavior Technician you meet before the first session – a tailor-made match, not a name from a rota. Families who still need a diagnosis can start with our autism diagnostic evaluations.

Let’s Talk

Alight Behavioral is dedicated to bringing exceptional in-home ABA therapy to children with autism throughout Virginia. Our team of BCBAs and behavior technicians designs evidence-based, individualized interventions that build meaningful skills and support positive behavior, all delivered in the place your child feels most comfortable: their home.

What is autism spectrum disorder?

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental condition that shapes how a child communicates, connects with others, and processes the world around them. Because it presents differently in every child, ASD is described as a spectrum — no two children show exactly the same signs or needs.
Common signs of autism in young children include:

Individualized Treatment Plans

Our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) begin with an in-depth assessment of each child, then build a treatment plan around their specific goals and needs. Every plan is designed to create real, lasting progress and not a one-size-fits-all program.

Behavioral Interventions

We use targeted, research-backed strategies to build communication, social, academic, and daily living skills while reducing challenging behaviors. Progress is tracked continuously so we can adjust course whenever the data calls for it.

Parent Training and Support:

ABA therapy works best when parents are part of the process. We equip families with practical tools and strategies to reinforce progress at home, at school, and in the community long after each session ends.

Ongoing Assessment and Adjustment:

Every child's plan evolves as they do. Our team reviews progress data regularly and refines each treatment plan to keep therapy aligned with your child's current needs and goals.

Meet Your Behavior Technician Before Therapy Starts

Progress starts with trust, so we never assign a BT sight unseen. Before sessions begin, you’ll meet your child’s proposed BT in person to make sure it feels like the right fit. If it’s not, we’ll keep looking until it is.

Sessions typically run 2–3 hours, 2–4 times per week, delivered one-on-one by a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and supervised throughout by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who designed your child’s plan.

You'll meet your assigned BT face-to-face before therapy begins - no surprises, no guesswork.

Experienced Team:

Our therapists bring deep training and hands-on experience to every session, with one goal: helping your child reach their full potential.

Family-Centered Approach:

Therapy works best as a partnership. We keep families closely involved, offering ongoing guidance and training so parents feel confident, not just informed.

Evidence-Based Practices:

Every intervention we use is rooted in the science of Applied Behavior Analysis and backed by data, so decisions about your child's care are never a guess.

Personalized Care:

No two children are the same, and no two treatment plans should be either. We build therapy around your child's specific needs, not a standard template.

Convenience:

In-home sessions mean therapy happens where your child is most comfortable, cutting out travel time and making it easier to stay consistent.

Quick evaluations:

Families don't wait long here. Our psychologists provide thorough autism evaluations with minimal delay.

Virginia ABA Therapy FAQs

Does insurance or Virginia Medicaid cover in-home ABA therapy?

In most cases, yes. We accept Virginia Medicaid and most major commercial insurance plans, and we verify your specific benefits before your first session.

Sessions are one-on-one with your child's Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), working through goals set by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) - using play, daily routines, and real-life practice rather than worksheets.

If your child hasn't been evaluated yet, our team can help schedule an autism diagnostic evaluation first, then move into an in-home ABA plan once a diagnosis and goals are in place.

We serve Virginia Beach and a wide range of Virginia cities and counties. Reach out with your location and we'll confirm coverage right away.

Timelines vary based on evaluation and insurance steps, but most families begin regular sessions within a few weeks of initial contact.
